Dr. Slattery is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon and back pain specialist dedicated to providing compassionate, cutting-edge care for patients with spinal disorders. Raised in rural Wyoming in a family of ranchers, Dr. Slattery grew up with a strong sense of community and work ethic that continues to shape his patient-centered approach. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Denver with a degree in biology before earning his medical degree from the prestigious University of Washington School of Medicine, consistently ranked among the nation's top medical schools. During medical school, Dr. Slattery completed a dedicated research year in orthopedics and spine surgery, earning the prestigious Codman award for his contributions to advancing the field.
Dr. Slattery completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of New Mexico, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He then pursued advanced fellowship training at the renowned Hoag Orthopedic Institute, performing over 500 complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries that year alone. This extensive training has equipped him with the expertise to address a wide range of spinal conditions.
A leader in academic medicine, Dr. Slattery has authored over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters in top journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. He has presented his research at national conferences, earning multiple awards and honors. Committed to serving others, Dr. Slattery has volunteered in underserved communities in New Mexico and Colombia, South America, reflecting his dedication to improving lives beyond the operating room.
